We’re back! Did you miss us?
We are in Fayetteville, West Virginia and today we checked out the New River Gorge Bridge. We weren’t satisfied with viewing the bridge from a scenic overlook, so we decided to walk across it on the maintenance catwalk underneath the bridge.
This bridge is the largest arched bridge in the United States and is made of steel and mix of copper which prevents rust and eliminates the need for painting. It is 851 feet high at its peak and has a catwalk 25 feet underneath the driving surface of the bridge which is accessible to tourists looking for an adrenaline-filled walking adventure high above the New River.
Add the New River Gorge National Park to your travel bucket list. Best time to go is in the fall for the amazing colors.
